Can I Quote You? Heschel on shared responsibility

In regard to cruelties committed in the name of a free society, some are guilty, while all are responsible.

Rabbi, theologian, and ethicist Abraham Joshua Heschel (1907-1972)

And a comment from me: My favorite public radio program, Speaking of Faith, is preparing a program on Heschel for their ongoing biographical series funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities.  The previous programs in the series have been among their best, and their online resources will undoubtedly be excellent, so keep an eye (and ear) open for it.
